Mitchell Goheen earned his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
A core belief that guides his psychotherapeutic work is that something in our psyche is constantly trying to emerge—to be acknowledged and lived. His approach focuses on trying to help one understand and ultimately embody whatever this inner force is urging of us.
Seeing symptoms as the way our psyches communicate—depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and other difficult mental health issues all have something to tell us about who we are and how we’re living. By becoming aware of these messages, we can find meaning in our suffering and learn how to live out more fully who we are.
Mitchell draws from an eclectic mix of psychotherapeutic modalities and orientations, including Jungian, psychodynamic, somatic, existential, cognitive-behavioral, and family therapies to help adolescents and adults grow past and through any psychological difficulties they are facing.
